(BCN) -- Two juveniles were arrested in connection with an armed robbery in East San Jose after an investigation by San Jose police, authorities said.

The robbery occurred about 5:30 a.m. July 30 when a man confronted a suspect who was breaking into his vehicle at a residence in East San Jose, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The suspect reportedly brandished a firearm, struck the victim in the face with it, and stole items from the vehicle before fleeing with a second suspect who was driving, police said.

The victim sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening and received medical care at the scene.

Robbery detectives used automated license plate reader cameras to identify the suspect vehicle, which was reported stolen.

Investigators later identified two juveniles, a 16-year-old from Oakland and a 17-year-old from Castro Valley, as the primary suspects, police said.
